AFFI Honor Guard Members

Welcome AFFI Honor Guard Members, as well as those interested in our great organization. The AFFI Honor Guard was originally founded by former State Commander Jay Bishop from Springfield, Local #37. He felt that there needed to be an organized way to honor those that have given their all in the Fire Service. At that time, there was no organized State wide Honor Guard to base a group from. Ideas were taken from different individuals, military Honor Guard information, and on January 30, 1993 69 members of the Associated Firefighters of Illinois formed the 1st ever statewide Honor Guard. Our membership is now close to 600 strong, which is now headed by State Commander Jeffrey H. Bruno, from Kankakee Local #653.

This section of the web site will have information valuable to AFFI Honor Guard Members. Just follow the drop down menu to find Upcoming Events, the Guidelines, the By-Laws, and our Message Forum. At the 2003 Honor Guard Convention in Springfield, IL, a motion was made to create a AFFI Honor Guard site that was run by our membership. That motion was approved. It is with the cooperation of our AFFI Executive Board that this site was approved. The Membership has reached to over 600 union members throughout the State of Illinois! The site is being maintained by Jeffrey M. Boetto, a 5th District Honor Guard Member with Evanston Fire Fighters Local 742. If there is any information or pictures of Honor Guard events you would like to see on the site, please send an e-mail with the attachment.
